Praise God, I’m Decluttering My Kitchen!
Praise God, I’m actually decluttering my kitchen – can you believe it?
Actually, there is a Biblical basis to homemaking – several, in fact. This time, though, I’m talking about Prov. 31:27, which says:
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.“
So in other words, God’s saying:
Watch your home, and don’t be lazy about anything!
Guess what? I was lazy! And in my case, not cleaning my kitchen was a bit hazardous to my health – let me explain:
I have VERY bad allergies and breathing problems. One of the things that feeds off my allergies is dust. What happens when we don’t dust our homes?? You can put two and two together.
Lately, I have been paying a bit more attention to keeping my home clutter-free and dust-free. I find that doing that brings me peace, and yes, helps me breathe. But for whatever reason (maybe I just didn’t want to), I would NOT clean my kitchen, the room that I spend the most time in!
This time, I was determined to do it, though. I even watched a YouTube video talking about 10 things to get rid of in your kitchen (if I find it again, I’ll post the link either on here or on my FB page – you do follow me on FB, right? 😀 )
Then I ended up having the Yankees game on (audio) on my Roku box (did I tell you I like the Yankees? More on Roku in another post).
I put on my allergy mask, got a washcloth, two towels, and my apple cider vinegar (yes, apple cider vinegar is great for cleaning!). Then I Swiffered my entire kitchen floor (Formica, so it’s real easy).
And finally (after all, it was my first night doing this, so there was a LOT)….I started decluttering shelves, drawers, etc. I got rid of all my junk food in the refrigerator, cleaned the under-sink cabinet and even the two under-counter drawers!
Afterwards, I did feel so much better! Oh, there is a LOT that STILL has to be done (haven’t been able to do much in years due to my vertigo – save that for another post). But it’s a great start! And if I can keep up a steady, consistent routine, it would be wonderful!
Now, back to the Yankees – this time listening on the radio – LET’S GO YANKEES!
