Train Up A Child In The Way – Prov. 22:6
Now you’re probably asking me – “train up what? What are you talking about, Christian Diva?”
I’m gonna try and answer that for you – the Bible says in Prov. 22:6:
train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is older, he will not depart…”
“what is all that, Christian Diva?”
Christian parents are responsible for bringing up their children the right way. Bringing them up “in the way”. What way? The Way is the Word of God and the Ways of God!
SO many kids today are messed up, they’re in trouble, and they’re doing things that they shouldn’t be even doing in the FIRST place! And some of these kids got Christian parents!
Now I’m not knocking Christian parenting in the least, but….
A LOT of Christian parents must be reminded that they have a GREAT responsibility to bring up their children in the Lord! To teach them God’s Word, and God’s ways. Modeling Godly behavior in the home. Disciplining their children according to God’s Word. Children know – and they know when something’s missing. Problem is that many Christians are TOO much engaged in the ways of the world (see this post and this one for examples). And because that’s going on, child training and parenting are being neglected – and it shows up in the children.
So what to do? It’s VERY obvious. Christian parents’ first priority is to the Lord, then to each other, and then to the children. They gotta be teaching the children to do what Jesus would do, say what He would say, and be as He is.
We have SO many ungodly examples out there in the world – why can’t we point the kids back to the ways of the Lord? Cos’ after all, He wrote the book!
