Let me ask you a question – what’s on your TV today? And does it meet the standards that God has set forth in His Word?
The Bible says in Phil. 4:8:
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.“
In that verse, the apostle Paul talks about our thoughts, but he could also be talking about our viewing habits.
As Christians, we must submit EVERYTHING to Jesus’ headship, including what we watch!
I use myself as a example. YouTube videos are some of my favorite things to watch. Many of these videos DO meet the standards of Phil. 4:8. However, I still have a LOT of work to do in this area – many times, I watch reality show videos that I shouldn’t be watching! These videos show people cursing, fighting, using God’s name in vain, and they show relationships that are not true or noble, and they’re impure.
I’m not posting these things for shock value. I have prayed, repented, and confessed. I’ve asked God to forgive me for the sin of even watching this stuff. I’ve asked God to cleanse my mind of the filth, but I end up going back to it.
I know what is right and what is wrong. I know that the things I’m watching are impure. Yet, it’s like an addiction, cos I’m hooked on this stuff. It’s a bondage that I haven’t had victory over yet, but I know that if I apply myself, I can change all that.
I ask you guys to pray for me, that I would have victory in this area.
